It started off well….
I love the concept of this art journal page. I am digging the tone-on-tone aspect of it, and surprisingly, I am into the muted brown tones. I like SOME of the texture on the page, although I am not sure that it has enough quite yet. But, there is something missing…
What do YOU do when you aren’t pleased with something you create? More specifically, what about an art journal entry or an art piece? To me, art journals can always evolve. I am not sure there is ever a time when it is “done”. You can always add more….more color, more texture, more focal points, more words, just more. Or, you can paint over portions you don’t like and effectively begin again. But, how do you decide when you are feeling stuck?
That is the issue that I ran into with this particular art journal entry. I attempted to push through, because in my experience with art journaling, often you just need to keep adding until you arrive at a place you can appreciate. But, I added plenty, and I still don’t feel quite right about this page. So, I decided to step back. I put the art journal down, put away the supplies and took photos of where I was in the process. I don’t normally ask for opinions on my art, and I suppose I am not really asking for an opinion this time either. But, I am asking what direction you would go in next…how should I finish this piece?
I’d love to hear your suggestions below. I promise to re-visit this piece after reading all the suggestions and update you all on what direction I decide to go in. Thanks in advance for your advice!
Keep it creative,

So first I love the page. Second I love your honesty since you aren’t really asking for opinions. I thought it looked like a coffee house and it needed a name. Would would Jesus call his cafe? It also looked like you were asking yourself a question and hadn’t quite heard the answer yet. Also stepping away in the middle when stuck is the best. I’ve done it. Helps you either go wow that turned out okay OR geez what was I thinking. Let’s not do that again!
