“In the Groove” Tag Ring

IMG_0297 2This month, for the “In the Groove” devotional from By the Well 4 God, I am choosing to jump into the study from a different angle.  The introduction to the devotional challenges us to examine the grooves in our life to reflect on whether they are in fact grooves, or whether we might be stuck in a spiritual rut.  As we work through the 14 days, we investigate various spiritual disciplines that will guide us to a spiritual groove.

I don’t think I could ever think of Bible journaling as a “rut”, but I do think that if we don’t change our approach to Bible study every now and then, it can become more of a “to-do” list item, rather than a spiritual discipline.  Therefore, while I still plan to create Bible journal entries for a few of the days, I will primarily be working and journaling on a tag ring!

IMG_0293I created the base tags for my ring using the gorgeous coordinating papers that are available in the BTW4G etsy shop.  The Silhouette design studio software makes it really easy to format and cut tags of all different shapes and sizes.  If you don’t have a Silhouette cameo (or a Cricut cutting machine), there are several metal dies that are available to cut tag shapes.  Or, let’s be honest, you can fussy-cut whatever shapes you like!  All that you need to do is cut the shape, punch a hole in the top, and put it on a ring!

I also used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out some of the titles of various days of the devotional.  But, to mix it up, I also used the clear alpha stickers, stamps, and alpha tile stickers to create titles.  Each devotional day has one title tag and one blank tag.  I will work on the blank tags as I continue to read through and study the devotional.

IMG_0287Perhaps, one of the most fun parts of setting up this tag ring was adding the flair ribbons and beads.  Sweet Shannon, one of the ladies that helps out in the By the Well 4 God shop, sent each member of the creative team a grab bag of ribbons, material, and beads to use with this months kit.  I had a fabulous time adding these to my ring!  Plus, with the tag ring hanging up over my desk, I have a constant reminder to stay in the groove and avoid ruts!

Have you ever created a tag ring?  This is my first one, and I love it!  I am all about the mini-albums lately, so this falls right in line with that :). Let me know how you avoid ruts in your crafting and in your bible study!

Keep it creative,
