Are we worthy of the gospel of Jesus Christ? The short answer is no, of course not. That is why we NEEDED Jesus to come. We could not follow God’s law or have a relationship with a holy Creator on our own. God sent Jesus to repair that relationship. But, just because we aren’t holy worthy, does not mean we aren’t loved. In fact, we are so deeply loved that God sent Jesus to rescue us while we were still sinners. The concept, intention, and meaning behind the Good News of the gospel is huge, and I love that we are learning more about it in “Worthy of the Gospel” from By the Well 4 God.
The truth is, I felt like I had a good understanding of the gospel, but the older I get, the more aware of my own personal sins and shortcomings. It gets more real to me. There is so much wrapped up in the cross, that it is worth diving into over and over again!

The premise of this page, focused around Romans 5:7-9, started with the idea that there are so many truths wrapped up in the gospel. I wanted to create imagery around that idea, so I decided to create a wrapped flower bouquet! I opted to fussy cut florals from the coordinating kit paper and wrapped them in some spare brown paper. Once I tied it up with piece of twine, it was so cute and dreamy…I love it!
In order to work on this entry, I also had to deal with bleed through from another page. I never worry about bleed-through too much when I am journaling, because most of the time, it is relatively simple to cover up. I chose to use acrylic paint (Target’s Handmade Modern brand), and one of my favorite techniques – the card scraping technique! All you have to do is add a tiny bit of acrylic paint onto an old gift card and scrape it on your page. I layered a couple of different colors, and then topped the background off by stamping with a large background stamp that comes with this devotional kit. I used acrylic paint on the background stamp as well, and I am super pleased with the outcome!
I can tell that this devotional is going to be both challenging and convicting for me. Sometimes, I shy away from similar devotionals, but I can see that God is calling me to do some big time work. Are you working through “Worthy of the Gospel”? What are your thoughts so far?
Keep it creative,

Amen. We are never worthy. For He did not give us what our sins deserve, which is death. He never treated like our sins deserve. He showed how much He loved us by sending His only Son Jesus for the world, that through Him we might be saved. He does not want any one to perish but all to come and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
That is why I always thank God before my feet hits the floor in the morning. I want to give Him praise for waking me up this morning.
I enjoyed your posting.
