I used to love the idea of a fresh start. Every Monday felt like a chance to become a brand new person. This was going to be the week I kept up with the laundry, answered every email, meal planned for seven straight days, stayed caught up on work, and somehow found time to be creative too.
You probably know how that usually turned out.
By Wednesday, something unexpected would happen. One of the kids needed something, an appointment got added to the calendar, a work project took longer than expected, or I simply got tired. Suddenly my "perfect week" was gone, and I'd catch myself thinking, Well...maybe next Monday.
The older I get, the more I realize that life isn't really made up of fresh starts. It's made up of small adjustments. Instead of constantly trying to begin again, I've learned to pause, look at where I am, and reset.
That one word has changed the way I think about planning.
A reset doesn't require me to pretend last week never happened. It doesn't ask me to erase the crossed-out plans or the unfinished to-do list. It simply asks, "What would make this next week feel a little more manageable?"
Sometimes that means moving unfinished tasks into a new week. Sometimes it means planning dinners before the week gets hectic. Sometimes it's clearing off my desk so I can actually see the surface again. And sometimes it's just sitting quietly with my planner for twenty minutes so my brain can catch up with everything that's been swirling around in it.
I've found that those small moments of intention are far more valuable than chasing the feeling of a perfect fresh start.
As both a mom and a small business owner, my weeks are wonderfully unpredictable. There are seasons when everything runs smoothly, and there are seasons where it feels like I'm juggling a hundred different responsibilities at once. I don't need a planning system that only works when life is calm. I need one that still works when life is messy.
That's really where my Sunday Reset began. It wasn't something I sat down and invented one day. It was simply a collection of habits I noticed myself doing almost every Sunday anyway. I'd look over the family calendar, plan a few meals, review my work projects, set up my planner for the week, and think through what was coming. Eventually I realized those little routines had become one of the biggest reasons I felt more prepared on Monday mornings.
The goal has never been to create the perfect week. It's to create a little more breathing room before the week begins.
That's also what inspired me to put together my new Sunday Reset System. Instead of gathering five different planners or random pieces of paper, I wanted one simple collection of inserts that supports the routine I already use every week. The monthly planner gives me the big picture, the weekly dashboard helps me organize my priorities, the meal planner removes one more daily decision, the project planner keeps my creative work moving forward, and the daily journaling pages give me a place to slow down when life feels especially busy.
More than anything, though, this system is a reminder that you don't have to wait for January 1st or even Monday morning to get back on track.
You can reset today.
And honestly, I think that's a much kinder way to live.
Keep it creative,
