“You Light Up the Sky” Traveler’s Notebook Process
Am I the only one playing catch up on documenting this past summer? With the kids home all summer long, I’ll be honest, not a lot of scrapping happened. That’s okay though, I am slowly getting caught up, and it is nice to reflect back on the fun times we had this summer! Check out my process for a July 4th page over on my YouTube channel:
Do you remember when decorative brads were all the rage? Back in the beginning days of my scrapbooking, decorative brads were used a ton. Since then, I think they may have fallen out of fashion, but I certainly don’t mind. I think they are adorable! For this particular entry, I used a decorative brad to stick 3 photos together, one right behind another. This created a fun interactive element in my traveler’s notebook, which is always something I like to include.
Most of this particular layout is created with old scrap pieces of paper. A few weeks ago, I took the time to sort my scrap paper by color and organized it in clear envelope pockets from Dollar Tree. This has been an absolute life saver! I most definitely reach for my scrap paper more often, and it has really reminded me of the huge array I have in my stash. The left side of this spread is created with different jagged edge red strips that created kind of a wonky flag look. The right side consists of two more piece of scrap paper along with a Kelly Purkey cut-out. This layout was so quick to put together!
The title “You Light Up the Sky” is stamped on using a variety of different alpha stamps and Versafine Onyx Black Ink. Mixing up the alpha stamps creates variety on the page and allows me to use even more of my favorite supplies! The finish embellishments are a series of patriotic banners that I picked up from the Dollar Spot at Target this summer.
The layout may have been quick, but I sure did fuss a great deal with the placement of my main elements. Whenever I am out of practice scrapping, it takes me a bit of time to get back into the zone. I usually fine that once I start and push past that awkward beginning, I am able to settle into a really good groove. Anyone else have a similar experience when they fall behind on their projects?
